Web-grade dashboard, 100% through the API: meet the QDat.io Desktop Dashboard

QDat.io Team•Mon Jun 08 2026•6 min read

A desktop app that is also an API tour

Today we are releasing the QDat.io Desktop Dashboard for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It delivers near feature parity with the web dashboard in the ease of a dedicated native application — but its most important property is not on the surface. Every screen the desktop app draws is powered by the public QDat.io API. There is no private back channel and no hidden endpoint; the app is, in effect, a fully worked reference client.

Why 100% through the API matters

Most platforms ship a polished first-party UI and a thinner API on the side. QDat.io is built the other way around: the API is the product, and the dashboards are clients of it. The desktop app proves it. Tag inventories, cold-chain history, Digital Product Passport templates, licence lifecycle, audit logs — each view is a call to the same documented REST surface you can call yourself.

That turns the app into a live integration spec. If you see it on the QDat.io Dashboard web interface, and you see it in the desktop app, then the same UX and UI can be brought into any WMS, ERP, or other software — because it all rides on the same comprehensive API.

What you can do with it

  • Browse and search tags — RFID/NFC chips, OPUS dataloggers, and generic items, with their full spatiotemporal history.
  • Watch the cold chain in real time — live temperature, excursion flags, and predictive shelf-life, the same data the web Cooldat dashboards render.
  • Author Digital Product Passports — branding, ordered sections, and the closed field allowlist, all editable from the desktop.
  • Manage licences and devices — request, approve, renew, and revoke, with every action written to the immutable audit log.
  • Because each of these is an API call, anything you can do in the app is something your own systems can do programmatically.

From nice UI to shipped integration

Here is the pattern we want to make obvious for WMS and ERP teams:

  • Explore the workflow in the desktop app until it does exactly what your operators need.
  • Trace it to the endpoints — open the API Reference and find the calls behind that workflow; they are the same ones the app just made.
  • Wire them into your system so the screen your team already trusts becomes a panel inside SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, or whatever you run.
  • The desktop app is the proof of feasibility, the API reference is the contract, and your WMS or ERP is the destination.

    Get it

The QDat.io Desktop Dashboard is available now for Windows, macOS, and Linux. You will find all three builds, with the full feature write-up, on the Desktop Dashboard tab of the support portal. Bring it into your operation — and when you are ready, bring it into your stack.
